In connection with the releasing of the signature report on State of the World Population Report 2022 (SWOP) by UNFPA, a panel discussion was conducted at Meeruma yesterday which is a collaborative initiative between IRI of Villa College and UNFPA which marked the official launch of SWO. The purpose of this initiative was to address the issue of unintended pregnancies and to work together on efforts on expanding access to the information and services. This event was also graced by the First Lady, Fazna Ahmed as the chief guest and among the many panelists were:

• Ms. Safiyya Mohamed Saeed, Deputy Minister, Ministry of Health

• Ms. Humaida Abdul Gafoor, Independent Researcher

• Mr. Mohamed Shihab, Minister of State for Gender, Family and Social Services

• Dr. Ibrahim Zakariyya Moosa, Vice Chancellor of Islamic University of Maldives
