Our Environmental Sustainability Initiatives

At VC we are serious about Environmental Sustainability. As our commitment to Environmental Sustainability Several programmes and activities are conducted, out of which our Solar Energy Project, Water Conservation Programme, Zero Plastics Programme and Being Green initiative are key. Our Environment Committee oversees our Environmental Sustainability Initiatives.

Our commitment and responsibility to environment and sustainability is supported at all the levels and is backed by our policies, including the Policy on Environment and Sustainability and the Policy on Sustainability Financing and Procurement.

We appreciate the support and cooperation provided by everyone in making our initiatives successful. We encourage all students, staff members and well wishes who wish contribute or collaborate in our initiatives to contact our Assistant Director – Operations and Sustainability, Mr. Abdulla Naseer.

Energy Conservation Programme

Villa College has always been steadfast in identifying ways in which resources could be utilised efficiently to the maximise the efficiency and effectiveness of its operations.

Solar Energy Project

Consequently, exploring the potential of renewable energy has been an important component of Villa College’s strategic direction. The importance of renewable energy sources in the transition to a sustainable energy base was recognized in early 2014.

Water Conservation Programme

Our water conservation programme consists of several activities. These include rainwater harvesting, AC condensed water harvesting, and facilitation of rainwater absorption to soil.

Being Green Initiative

VC’s Being Green programme acknowledged several key environmentally sustainable activities we conducted in addition to identifying additional practices or measures that need to be considered.

Zero Plastics Campaign

As part of the “Say No to Plastics” campaign, a procedure on single use plastic was approved and implemented in 2019. VC has phased out all single use plastic bottles
