1 min read

Our Institute for Research and Innovation (IRI) hosted a workshop today to disseminate the results of UNICEF's comprehensive study on Knowledge, Attitudes, and Practices (KAP) regarding parenting and childcare in the Maldives. This dissemination, a pivotal aspect of the UNICEF KAP Study conducted by IRI, aimed to share key insights with pertinent stakeholders. Notable attendees included representatives from the government, ministries, and civil society organizations (CSOs).

The event commenced with opening remarks by Dr. Edward Adai, the UNICEF representative, followed by comments from Ms. Fathimath Azza, Chair of the project Steering Committee. The IRI team presented quantitative and qualitative findings from their study. Importantly, participants, including government officials and CSO representatives, actively engaged in the workshop, providing valuable inputs and comments on the presented findings.

This collaborative approach seeks to enrich the final report by incorporating diverse perspectives. The study, which collected baseline data, sheds light on current knowledge, attitudes, and practices related to childcare and parenting in the Maldives. The insights garnered from this research will play a crucial role in shaping the Maldives Joint Positive Parenting Programme (JPPP). As the findings are integrated into this initiative, they are expected to contribute significantly to enhancing parenting practices and childcare strategies in the region.
