Villa College is proud to announce the launch of the Villa College Research Grant 2025, reinforcing our commitment to fostering impactful research, international collaboration, and knowledge sharing.

The Villa College Research Grant program, with an annual allocation of MVR 500,000, supports research projects that align with the college's strategic priorities and contribute to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The initiative is designed not only to fund vital research but also to enhance Villa College's International Research Network (IRN) score, strengthen global partnerships, and elevate the college's profile on the international academic stage.

The grant encourages applications focused on the following key research areas:

Digital Transformation and Smart Solutions Climate Action and Resilience Engineering Business and Social Entrepreneurship Driving Equity Resilient Learning Systems and Future Skills Responsive Law and Governance Global Health, Biomedicine, and Preparedness Community Wellbeing and Social Support Systems Urbanisation, Mobility, and Sustainable Cities

The Villa College Research Grant is open to full-time academic staff of Villa College. We highly encourage collaborative projects and welcome visiting lecturers, local and international universities/institutions, industry partners and civic society organisations to reach out to our full-time academics to collaborate on joint applications.

Such collaborations are crucial for fostering cross-border research and expanding Villa College's global research impact.

Applications will be rigorously reviewed by the Research Grant Committee based on established Grant Evaluation Criteria and Procedures, assessing both eligibility and merit.

In 2024, the grant program received 10 applications, and grants were awarded to 9 deserving recipients, with funding ranging from MVR 30,000 to 70,000. We are excited to build on this success and support more impactful research in 2025.
